Visit Ludlow near Upper Heath Farm self catering cottage
Shropshire’s food and drink capital
Ludlow is just 20 minutes from Stable Cottage at Upper Heath Farm and is renowned for its local produce, farmers markets, slow food movement, independent foodie shops, Michelin starred restaurant and fantastic places to eat and drink.
Ludlow Food Centre is a must-visit, where farming and food come together to create a unique shopping experience. 80% of the food they sell comes from Shropshire and the surrounding counties and half of their products are made on the premises, in kitchen units that surround the food hall (which means you can see your food actually being made!).
If you don’t want to cook everyday (or at all) during your stay at Stable Cottage, Ludlow is the place to go. Walk around the town (with over 500 listed buildings) and visit Ludlow Castle and tearoom. A trip to Ludlow during the Spring Festival in May and Ludlow Food Festival in September is also highly recommended. For local Shropshire events please click here.
Ludlow's river is the river Teme and travels through the town and surrounding countryside over a series of low weirs that have sculpted the banks into a wonderful circular walk.
